Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has insisted that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will continue to be helmed by Ronald Kiandee. The Pakatan Harapan chairperson said the ruling coalition had lived up to its election promise by appointing Kiandee to that post when the latter was with the opposition.
"But he chose to join the ruling party, what can we do? We cannot stop him," he told the media in Putrajaya today.
The prime minister went on to claim that all allies in Harapan had agreed that Kiandee, who joined Bersatu yesterday, would be retained as PAC chair.
Yesterday, both DAP's Hannah Yeoh and PKR's Nurul Izzah Anwar called for the PAC to be led by an opposition lawmaker as stipulated in Harapan's election manifesto.
