Lim Guan Eng seems to think that the 1MDB ‘scandal’ is bigger than the RM354 billion Enron collapse. No, 1MDB did not collapse. It borrowed RM30 billion against RM51 billion in assets and is an on-going concern. But to Guan Eng this is why Malaysia has no money.
Anyway, Lim Guan Eng and Tony Pua met Jack Ma in Hong Kong recently and spoke to him about Malaysia’s priority in fighting corruption and that this is why the Chinese should come to Malaysia and invest in Malaysia.
This upset Jack Ma who felt that Guan Eng and Tony Pua were acting condescendingly towards him and he pointed out that Guan Eng himself has been implicated in many scandals and has been accused of corruption.
Jack Ma added that the Chinese no longer trust Malaysia because the government does not honour the agreements it signs and foreigners no longer feel safe investing in Malaysia.
Jack Ma then told Guan Eng and Tony Pua he does not want to have anything to do with the Goverment of Malaysia.
