Johor Menteri Besar Osman Sapian was in Batam, Indonesia yesterday to promote Visit Johor 2020 and was received by the island’s mayor Muhammad Rudi.
According to Indonesian news outlet Info Publik, Osman told reporters that Johor had much to offer to tourists as there were historical sites, nature parks, convention halls and health tourism, among others.
Osman (photo above) said he had sought the help of the Batam mayor's office to allow the Johor government to promote the state in the island, which is located south of Singapore.
Batam is about an hour and 40 minutes ferry ride from Johor's Pasir Gudang port.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Rudi told reporters that Batam and Johor were like brothers as many residents in Batam had kin in Johor.
"Don't worry. Even without an invitation, many Batam residents have been to Johor…,” said the Batam mayor.
"With (such promotions), the visits will increase because we now know more than before.” - Mkini
