PARLIAMENT | Former premier Najib Abdul Razak (BN-Pekan) today threw the price of eggs back at the Pakatan Harapan administration over its apparent failure to curb rising living costs.
"If you can't even control the price of eggs, then don't even hope you can control prices of other things," he told the Dewan Rakyat in his debate of the royal address.
"If you want to control the price of basic goods, please (first) control the price of eggs.
"When the minister previously announced at a large press conference that the price of eggs had gone down by 2 sen, today the price of 3A eggs is close to 50 sen per egg."
Najib was referring to Putrajaya announcing earlier this year that the price of eggs had gone down by 2 sen, after an initial rise of 10 sen.
At the time, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had sarcastically thanked Najib for his efforts in monitoring the price of essentials.
