Removed during Najib's time, Hamid Bador now named acting DIGP

Four years ago, Abdul Hamid Bador alleged that he was a victim of a conspiracy when he was removed as the Special Branch deputy chief and transferred to the Prime Minister's Department.
This was related to the alleged crackdown on investigators looking into the 1MDB and SRC International scandal involving the then prime minister, Najib Abdul Razak.
However, Abdul Hamid was appointed as the Special Branch chief after Pakatan Harapan came into power and today, he was named as the acting deputy inspector-general of police.
He replaces Noor Rashid Ibrahim, who is retiring after over 35 years in service.
The handing-over of duties of deputy IGP and Police Family Association (Perkep) deputy president was carried out today at Pulapol in Kuala Lumpur. It was witnessed by IGP Mohamed Fuzi Harun.

Last year, it was reported that although Noor Rashid was due for mandatory retirement at the age of 60, he would be contracted to serve as deputy IGP for another year.
Last month, there were speculations that Abdul Hamid was going to be the next IGP, replacing Fuzi who is due for retirement this May.
However, Abdul Hamid expressed no knowledge of this plan, stating that his priority was to ensure public safety and maintain racial harmony. - Mkini
