So says Tun Daim Zainuddin the Chairman of the Council of Eminent Persons and a close advisor to the Prime Minister.
There are now more than 70,000 Malay students attending Chinese schools per year.
I believe the number is higher but the government is not reporting the real numbers.
This has been the case now for almost 20 years or more. When I was in the NEAC (circa 2001) the figure then was around 40,000 - 50,000.
This is a good thing because it means that there are perhaps one million young Malay people who have been exposed to a Chinese school system that emphasises very hard work and discipline. Plus of course they can speak Mandarin and have better chances of employment.
I have Malay friends whose children studied in Chinese schools. One of them has a daughter who is an accountat and works for a Chinese corporation. She travels to the USA where her Chinese employers have business interests.
Another Malay friend has a daughter (who studied at a Chinese school) who is a lawyer and is doing well working with clients of all ethnicities, including Chinese of course.
A few weeks back I noticed an obviously Chinese educated Malay girl helping to manage a Chinese owned business (in Bangi Gateway). She was conversing easily in Mandarin with her Chinese colleagues.
As Tun Daim says everyone, including Malay parents, want the best education for their children. Right now in Malaysia the Chinese schools (with the Tamil schools also having caught up in Science and Mathematics) are providing the best all round academic education for primary school children. Much better than the sekolah kebangsaan.
The government should just publicise the scores in Mathematics and Science for Chinese, Tamil and sekolah kebangsaan. Nak Malu Apa? Bossku bukan Pencuri.
I can tell you right away that for Science and Maths scores the scoring is Tamil primary schools highest, Chinese primary schools second and sekolah kebangsaan number three.
Our pro-salafi Menteri Kasut Hitam talks about Finland, Finland, Finland.
Someone should tell this dunggu that this is not Finland.
This is Malaysia lah.
Finland has a population of FIVE MILLION people only.
Malaysia has 32 million people.
In Finland the teacher : student ratio alone is 1 to 12.
So when is the Menteri Kasut Hitam going to create a sekolah kebangsaan with a 1:12 teacher student ratio ?
Plus they DO NOT TEACH NONSENSICAL RELIGION in Finnish schools.
Here our Menteri Kasut Hitam has asked teachers from Kelantan to continue their jihad in Sarawak and Sabah.
In Finland they are all homogeneous Finns - descended from the Vikings.
Their society has a much higher level of integrity, honesty, almost zero corruption levels, no nonsense etc.
So how can you compare Malaysia to Finland?
Ini Malaysia lah brader.
Katerer khenduri kahwin boleh jual lauk sudah basi.
SEPULUH ORANG BOLEH MATI food poisoning, tak jadi apa.
SEPULUH ORANG BOLEH MATI food poisoning, tak jadi apa.
The latest is the Menteri Kasut Hitam has announced that there will be no more Science and Arts streaming. There will be only one stream.
Ok parents, do you know what this really means?
For the last 60 years SPM level Additional Mathematics is taught exclusively for Science students.
If they abolish Science and Arts streams, this means the sekolah kebangsaan cannot teach SPM level Additional Mathematics anymore for all their students because then all the lower achieving students (who would only qualify for Arts) will certainly fail Additional Mathematics.
Also for many decades 'SPM' level Physics, Chemistry and Biology are only taught to Science stream students. 'SPM' level Physics, Chemistry and Biology are too difficult for Arts students. (In my days Arts students only studied something called 'General Science').
Now - if they abolish Arts and Science streams - they will not even teach 'SPM' Level Physics, Chemistry and Biology anymore because all the lower achievers (Arts student level) will certainly fail 'SPM' Science student level Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
So if they abolish Science and Arts streams, the sekolah kebangsaan will have to also lower the standard of 'SPM' level Additional Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology to suit the Arts stream level of lower achievers.
(This is why we had the Arts and Science stream in the first place. Those who have an aptitude for Science go into the Science stream. Those with an aptitude for Arts go into the Arts stream.
In real life however the Arts stream students usually make more money and become more successful than the Science stream students. So far this is a fact of life).
In other words the standard of the entire education system is going to become even lower.
Tahu bunyi tahu warna boleh lulus SPM.
Just like the sekolah pondok and the madrassa.
Tahu bunyi tahu warna boleh jadi Menteri Pendidikan.
Atau jadi mufti Darul Terrorist.
Bila lampu merah, mesti berhenti.
Kalau itek bunyi itek, kalau ayam bunyi ayam.
By the way this is March 2019. The SPM results will be out soon.
"KEMASKINI TARIKH RASMI KEPUTUSAN SPM 2018 : Keputusan rasmi SPM bakal diumumkan pada 14 Mac 2019."
Can the new Pakatan Harapan government please tell the public what are the passing marks for each SPM subject?
Is it 12 marks to pass Add Maths?
Is it 20 marks to pass English?
Please publicise the racial breakdown of students passing each subject - Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban, Kadazan.
Please also provide the breakdown by region - Klang Valley, urban, rural, east coast Peninsula, west coast Peninsula, Sabah, Sarawak, interior Sarawak, Sabah, urban Sarawak, Sabah etc.
If we are going to improve our education system then we must take proper remedial measures. By race, region and urban - rural etc.
Dalam Sistem Kasta Malaysia, Kerajan Sendiri Tidak Percaya Sekolah Kebangsaan?
Yalah. That is why the government set up the sekolah asrama system.
Sekolah asrama penuh.
Because the government does not trust the sekolah kebangsaan system.
So all the bright Malay kids are sucked out from the sekolah kebangsaan system and sent to the MRSMs, Sekolah Menengah Sains, STAR, SDAR, Koleh Sultan Abdul Hamid, MCKK, Kolej Tunku Kursiah and whatever.
And in these sekolah asrama penuh these students are taught in English.
Then the government has also allowed the establishment of private schools, especially the so called international schools. All are English medium.
In Penang, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, plenty in KL, Pahang etc there are numerous "international schools" where the orang kaya people (including the Ministers) send their children to school.
There is no or extremely very little kelas agama in these international schools. They do not even sit for the SPM. They may sit for the UK 'O' Levels, Singapore 'O' Levels or the IB (Int'l Baccaulareatte (sp??) ) etc.
This is the elitist caste system that the government has created in our education system. The sekolah asrama caste, the international school caste for the orang kaya etc.
The normal children - the children of the normal everyday people - well you can go and suck eggs in the sekolah kebangsaan. Kanak-kanak yang keluar dari sekolah kebangsaan boleh jadi lebih dunggu daripada sebelum masuk sekolah. This is the situation of the sekolah kebangsaan now.
Kawan-kawan these are important issues.
We must be serious.
Ini bukan isu main-main.
Do not be childish.
Do not be stupid.
Do not be stupid.
