Solar project probe - Rosmah has another date with MACC next week

MACC is expected to record a statement from former premier Najib Abdul Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor at its headquarters in Putrajaya next Monday.

According to a source, this is related to the investigations into the solar hybrid project for rural schools in Sarawak.

This comes four months after she was charged with two counts of corruption at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, one for soliciting RM187.5 million through her former aide Rizal Mansor, and another for receiving RM1.5 million in bribe relating to the RM1.25 billion solar project.

The charge sheet had stated that the RM187.5 million is equivalent to 15 percent of the total project value but prosecutors claimed Rosmah only received a fraction of the sum solicited.

"MACC is investigating her again for the same project but on a different issue," the source told Malaysiakini.

Asked if MACC would record statements from others as well, he replied: "So far, it's only Rosmah."

On Nov 15 last year, Rizal claimed trial to four counts of soliciting and accepting bribes for himself and Rosmah, amounting to RM5.5 million, involving the supply of equipment and installation of the solar hybrid system.

The project in question - for 369 rural schools in Sarawak - was awarded by the Education Ministry through direct negotiation. The education minister at the time was Mahdzir Khalid.

On Oct 4, Rosmah was charged with 17 counts of money laundering involving over RM7 million. - Mkini
