Something’s wrong with our society - DPM on Langkawi baby's death

The death and body dumping of a three-year-old child in Langkawi is a tragedy, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said today.

A couple detained in connection with the death of Nur Aisyah Aleya Abdullah reportedly told police that the toddler under their care had suffered seizures while she was being bathed.
Police said the man then stuffed the girl into a bag and dumped the remains at a ravine at Gunung Raya.
"Maybe the caretaker panicked, but this can't happen.
"Something is wrong with our society for someone to abandon (the child) just like that when faced with a problem or in a panicked state," Wan Azizah told reporters in Putrajaya.

Nur Aisyah was reported missing last Sunday while in the custody of the 37-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife.
Her mother, Indonesian national Rosmaliah Samo, had gone to look for her at the couple's house, but was told that a third party was looking after the child.
The couple then disappeared, but were later arrested in Ampang.
Police said Nur Aisyah had died three weeks ago.
Only her skull and bits of hair were found when police arrived at the site where she was dumped yesterday.  - Mkini
