TANDEK assemblyman Anita Baranting has joined Parti Warisan Sabah today, after being a Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) member since the party’s formation 34 years ago.
The two-term elected rep also quit as PBS Wanita chief and Tandek deputy divisional chief, a move she decided a day after PBS observed its 34th anniversary.
With her entry into Warisan, the party now has 30 state assemblymen.
“After the May 9 polls, we found the struggles of Warisan sincere. I have nothing to say about my old party.
“I made the decision because Warisan is one of the ruling parties and we want to continue our services to the people,” she said announcing her entry to Warisan today.
Baranting’s move came two days after Balung rep Osman Jamal, who had quit Umno after the 14th general election, joined Warisan.
Present to accept Baranting’s membership were Warisan president cum Sabah Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal, and vice-presidents Jaujan Sambokong and Peter Anthony.
She is the ninth Barisan Nasional (BN) rep to join Warisan after Tanjung Batu rep Hamisa Samat, Sebatik rep Abdul Muis Picho, Tampasuk rep Musbah Jamli, Kemabong rep Jamawi Jaafar, Kuamut rep Masiung Banah, Pitas rep Bolkiah Ismail and Osman.
