NAJIB Razak has slammed Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming for trying to incite racial and religious hatred with his remark that the Umno-PAS alliance will turn Malaysia into a Taliban state.
The former prime minister said following Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng’s recent remark that the Umno-PAS alliance was a declaration of war against non-Malays, DAP leaders appeared to be trying to instigate racial strife.
“Yesterday, Nga told the Chinese press that the Umno-PAS cooperation, if successful, would force the country backwards, like Afghanistan under the Taliban… This is another racist remark by DAP.
“Umno, PAS, MCA and MIC were among the nine parties that founded Barisan Nasional.
“We have worked together before and the country has never stops prospering, unlike what Nga claims,” he said on Facebook today.
Najib urged DAP to stop sowing hatred between non-Malays and the Malays.
“This has to stop. DAP has to stop making racial and religious remarks and must stop sowing hatred among Malaysians.
“Having said that, I am sure that no action will be taken against DAP leaders,” Najib said.
At an event in Taiping yesterday, Nga, who is also Teluk Intan MP, had said Malaysia would turn into Afghanistan under Taliban rule if the cooperation between Umno and PAS flourished.
Speaking to Sin Chew daily, Nga had said that the unity between the two Malay-based parties would lead to disunity.
“Umno and PAS are becoming more extreme while open-minded Malays are keeping silent,” he said.
“Moderate groups have to be united and must work together to make sure Malaysia stays on the right path and does not veer towards the extreme,” he added.
Nga likened PAS and Umno to sinking ships, with both parties trying to hold on to each other to keep from going under.
