KOTA KINABALU: A total of 11,340 illegal immigrants were deported from Sabah between January and yesterday, the state’s National Security Council said today.
This brings the number of illegal immigrants sent home to their countries of origin since 1990 to 589,364.
For the first three days of December, it said, the Sabah National Security Council sent home 3,800 Filipinos and 109 Indonesians.
“The deportation is assisted by the Immigration Department, police, health department and other agencies,” it said in a statement.
The council said it would continue with its effort to clamp down on illegal immigrants in Sabah. - FMT
