Doctor escapes death after car plunges into river

The Perodua Myvi that plunged into a three feet deep river at Jalan Felda Redong, Labis.

SEGAMAT: A doctor survived a car accident when her car plunged into a three-feet deep river along Jalan Felda Redong near Labis here.

Johor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Yahya Madis said that the driver, Dr Nur Syarifah Hidayu Hassan, was driving alone when the incident occurred around 12.22pm on Monday (Dec 9).

"The victim, who is a doctor at Segamat Hospital, was on her way home at Felda Selancar 3 before losing control of her car and plunging into the river.

"Eight firemen and one fire engine from the Labis Fire and Rescue station were deployed to the scene," he said in a statement here.

Yahya said that when the rescue team arrived at the scene, the victim was spotted beside her car. The team then threw a rope to pull the victim out from the river.

He added that the victim was brought to Segamat Hospital for treatment. - Star
