KUALA LUMPUR: Amanah president Mohamad Sabu is confident that money politics will not be a feature in the party’s coming elections, as none of the party’s members are wealthy.
“There are no conglomerates in the party,” said Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, after chairing a party meeting here today.
However he did not rule out the possibility of people expecting favours from the party as Amanah is part of the government but expressed hope that it would not happen.
He said those elected next week must be wary of such things.
Mohamad went on to advise those who are contesting in the party elections to refrain from seeking positions.
“Anyone can offer to contest and many have.”
He said the coming convention would be an opportunity to explain to ordinary members about what success the ruling coalition has achieved and to stress on the need for unity among component parties.
Mohamad dismissed claims that Pakatan Harapan would only last one term in office, especially in view of a rift in PKR.
“I am confident PKR will resolve their issues and am confident PH will continue to rule as we have time to explain to the people,” he said. - FMT
