Police probe into sexual misconduct claim against Anwar almost complete

Police investigation into Muhammed Yusoff Rawther's sexual misconduct allegation against PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is almost finished, said Bukit Aman.

According to Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, who heads the CID prosecution and legal division, they are now looking at whether there is a need to call more people to have their statements recorded.

"There are several names mentioned by Yusoff. If we find there is the need to, we will call them.

"If not, we will refer this IP (investigation paper) to the Attorney-General's Chambers," he told Malaysiakini when contacted.

"Investigation is almost complete," said Mior.
Yesterday, police recorded a statement from Anwar (above) when he was summoned to Bukit Aman over the allegation.
Yusoff, who is Anwar's former research officer, had on Dec 7 filed a police report on the incident which purportedly took place in October last year.

Three days prior to lodging his police report, Yusoff had revealed a statutory declaration he had made alleging that he was sexually assaulted by Anwar.

Anwar has denied the allegation and said that his private secretary Shukri Saad had lodged a report on the matter.

Police have also recorded a statement from the accuser, who was summoned to Bukit Aman on Monday and Tuesday. - Mkini
