Reformasi veterans want Zuraida's head to roll, urges PKR to pressure PM

A group of veteran reformists known as "Otai Reformis 1998" want Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin's head to roll.
The group has urged PKR to pressure Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to dismiss the party vice-president from his cabinet.
Towards this, Otai Reformis 1988 chairperson Dr Idris Ahmad submitted a memorandum detailing the group's demands to PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail's officer at the party headquarters in Petaling Jaya this evening.
“We want PKR to demand that the prime minister drop Zuraida with immediate effect for not adhering to the (PKR) leadership.

“She had clearly insulted PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and other leaders during the dinner in Kuala Lumpur,” Idris told reporters later.

He was referring to the dinner held at the Renaissance Hotel on Sunday night, where Zuraida launched a broadside against two PKR leaders aligned to Anwar and revealed a purported conversation between her and the president.
The minister, who is aligned to deputy president Azmin Ali, had accused party communications director Fahmi Fadzil and Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak of influencing Anwar.
She had described Fahmi as a “novice” and Farhash as “mafia” due to the latter being accused of assault as well as his fondness for wearing black.
Apart from this, Zuraida also claimed Anwar told her that the police had confirmed it was Azmin in the sex video, the scandal which made headlines in June.

She also alleged Anwar informed her that Mahathir had asked him as the PKR president to sack Azmin.
Meanwhile, Otai Reformasi also wanted action to be taken against six PKR leaders for leaving the national congress over the weekend without valid reasons.
Idris said the six – Azmin, vice-president Tian Chua, Youth deputy chief Hilman Idham, Selangor chief (and menteri besar) Amirudin Shari, Wanita chief Haniza Talha and Permatang Pauh division deputy chairperson Dr Afif Bahardin - should be subjected to disciplinary action, suspended or sacked.
“This is appropriate since they have tarnished the party's reputation and image,” he added.
Yesterday, PKR information chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin had also urged the disciplinary board to take action against Zuraida.
PKR's 20th national congress over the weekend had been marred by violence and walk-outs.
The dinner held at the Renaissance by Azmin's faction was symbolic as it was the same venue where the party was founded two decades ago.
The gathering came hours after Azmin's supporters snubbed the last day of the PKR congress which was officially closed by Anwar in Malacca. - Mkini
