MUHAMMAD Yusoff Rawther, who accused Anwar Ibrahim of sexual misconduct, spent eight hours at Bukit Aman giving his statement today.
Speaking to reporters after exiting the Bukit Aman police headquarters, Yusoff’s lawyer, Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla said police are investigating the case under Section 354 of the Penal Code which is for using criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of a person.
“For now, they are investigating under Section 354. But they may include other charges later if necessary,” he told reporters tonight after the long interview.
Haniff said his client was asked in detail of what occurred on the day of the alleged incident.
“It was long because the cops wanted to know every detail of the incident. My client who was called up as a victim has to tell the cops about it.
“From the day it occurred until the police report that he lodged two days ago,” Haniff explained.
Haniff and Yusoff entered Bukit Aman about 12.30pm today and left the police headquarters after 9pm
Yusoff had recently accused Anwar of sexual misconduct and made a police report on the incident last Saturday at the Sentul police station.
He alleged in a statutory declaration that Anwar tried to force him to perform sexual acts at his home in Bukit Segambut on October 2 last year.
The statutory declaration was widely shared on social media and chat groups on December 4, the same time Yusoff held a press conference on the matter.
“My purpose of lodging this report is to ask the police to investigate and take action into the incident at Anwar’s residence at Bukit Segambut, Kuala Lumpur, as detailed in the statutory declaration.
“I also lodged this report for my safety as I have started to receive threats from certain quarters after my press conference on the matter.” -THE MALAYSIAN INSIGHT
Yusoff Rawther: My family is strong, they are fully behind me
Muhammad Yusoff Rawther left Bukit Aman around 9.15pm after being questioned by the police for seven hours over allegations of sexual misconduct against his former boss, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
When asked about his granduncle who had questioned the credibility of the sexual assault claim, Yusoff said the granduncle was someone he meets once a year, adding that it was a surprise the said relative was suddenly an expert on his personal life.
