PETALING JAYA: Najib Razak has invited DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang to wait outside the mosque when he takes a religious oath over high-profile cases.
Yesterday, the former prime minister said he would take a “sumpah laknat” at Masjid Jamek after Friday prayers to deny allegations made by a former police officer that he ordered the murder of Mongolian citizen Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Najib has since rubbished Azilah Hadri’s claim.
Najib went on to point out that prior to him declaring that he was to take the “sumpah laknat”, Lim had on Tuesday questioned whether he would give his support for the murder case to be re-opened.
Today, Lim wondered if the Pekan MP would also take a religious oath over the 1MDB scandal. Najib replied that he was also prepared to do so.
However, Najib said that he had already taken an oath when testifying at the 1MDB trial, where he is facing numerous charges, including money laundering and misappropriation.
However, Najib said he would take a religious oath over 1MDB once the trial was over and invited Lim to the mosque when he does so.
“Kit Siang can wait outside the mosque as I take my oath.
“After that, I will buy him a cup of coffee so I can ask him questions that I wanted to ask him at a debate,” he said in a Facebook post, referring to the showdown that was called off in May out of fear it would turn into a racial issue.
Earlier this year, Najib had agreed to debate Lim over kleptocracy.
However, the Iskandar Puteri MP later backed down, citing an “avalanche of advice” from Malaysians telling him not to proceed as well as the likelihood that the debate would be turned into a “Malay vs Chinese conflict”. - FMT
