Warisan Youth chief Mohd Azis Jamman denied reports of a mass exodus from his party. There was an alleged exit of 600 members from nine branches in the Sepanggar division.
"A check by the division found that what was said by former Sepanggar Wirawati (young women) wing chief Raisa Abdul Ghaffur was not true," Azis said when contacted.
"Out of nine branches mentioned by her, seven doesn't even exist. They're not registered," said Azis, who is also Sepanggar division chief.
Some of the members who showed up at the press conference held by Raisa denied they quit the party, he added.
"They turned up at the press conference thinking it was another event, not about quitting the party," said Azis.
He believed the number was cooked up to "make (Raisa's) press conference look nice."
Meanwhile, Sepanggar Warisan deputy chief Ahmad Jais Otong also denied the mass exodus, saying, "How could (Raisa) claim (there were) 600 members registered under these seven branches which (are not even) registered?" he said in a statement.
Of the remaining branches, he said one denied its members had quit the party while another branch claimed its leader left the party but its members remained with Warisan.
As for another branch, Ahmad Jais said it was not formally set up due to a technical issue.
Raisa reportedly quit Warisan together with 600 members claiming they lost confidence in Azis' leadership. - Mkini
