PETALING JAYA: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri says a decision on whether Muslims will be allowed to perform the pilgrimage or haj to Mecca will be announced next week.
Zulkifli, who is in charge of the religious affairs portfolio, said discussions had been held with pilgrims fund Tabung Haji.
“The outcome of the meeting will be presented to the Cabinet before it is announced to the Agong,” he said in a statement today.
Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob previously said any decision on whether Muslims are allowed to perform the haj would only be made pending an announcement by Saudi Arabia.
“Once Saudi Arabia has made an announcement, the minister in charge of the religious affairs will decide on the matter,” Ismail said. - FMT
