Disputed Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad lamented that Pakatan Harapan does not appear interested in taking down Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
This is amid an impasse on who will lead the new government if Harapan, Mahathir's group and Warisan succeed in forming a new majority to oust Muhyiddin.
"That is up to them. We cannot force them if they disagree. We also disagree with them.
"So that is the situation right now. It's hanging without a decision. It shows we are not really interested in defeating Muhyiddin," he was quoted as saying by Astro Awani.
Mahathir made the comments after a discussion session with Bersatu grassroots in Langkawi last night.
PKR is adamant that its president Anwar Ibrahim should be prime minister but Mahathir wants six months as the prime minister first and is backed by Warisan.
Amanah and DAP have also pressured PKR to consider Mahathir as prime minister after Anwar failed to negotiate support from the East Malaysia bloc which is instrumental to form a majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
Supporters have argued that Mahathir is more palatable to the East Malaysia bloc.
The Harapan government collapsed in late February when Bersatu president Muhyiddin pulled his party out of the coalition government.
Muhyiddin was sworn in as the new prime minister on March 1, after Mahathir refused to lead the new coalition he put together comprising Bersatu, PKR defectors, BN, PAS, GPS, PBS and Star. - Mkini
