Full hours for UTCs except for public holidays

Urban transformation centres were established to bring a host of federal government agencies under one roof.
PETALING JAYA: Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) nationwide will be opened seven days a week beginning Monday, June 15, the finance ministry announced today.
This follows Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s announcement on the extension of UTC operating hours.
The Najib Razak-era UTCs, established to bring a host of federal government agencies under one roof for the convenience of the people, had opened from 8.30am-10pm.
The Pakatan Harapan administration reduced operating hours to 8am-7pm beginning Jan 1, 2019.
It cited several factors including overtime and utility costs, as well as smaller crowds after 7pm, though several UTCs later had their operating hours extended.
Under the new operating hours, UTCs will open every day except on national and state public holidays.
In Peninsula Malaysia, UTCs will open from 8am to 9pm from Monday to Friday, with no breaks except for a two-and-a-half hour Friday prayer break from 12.15pm to 2.45pm.
On Saturday and Sunday, UTCs will open from 8am to 5pm.
In Sabah and Sarawak, UTCs will open from 8am to 5pm daily, seven-days a week.
The Friday prayer break for Sarawak is from 11.45am to 2.15pm, while for Sabah and Labuan it is from 11.30am to 2.00pm. - FMT
