Give Noh Omar another appointment, Selangor BN leader suggests to PM

Malaysiakini

Selangor BN information chief Isham Jalil today suggested that Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin offer another position to state BN chairperson Noh Omar that would better fit his role as an MP.
Isham made the statement on his Facebook following the Tanjong Karang MP's resignation as MISC chairperson 17 days after being appointed to the post.
Noh (above) reportedly cited a matter of principle as his reason to resign, saying that he wanted to focus on the people and country.
"In order to help in strengthening Perikatan Nasional in the state, I would like to suggest the PM offer a better platform to the Selangor BN chairperson so that he and Selangor BN can serve the people more effectively.
"Noh has vast experience in the field of developing local entrepreneurs, agriculture and law, and thus agencies related to such matters might be better to consider for him rather than MISC," said Isham.
Malay daily Sinar Harian had on June 19 reported that Noh made the decision because he believed the position in the shipping conglomerate would be more suitable for corporate figures and retired politicians because it is more profit-oriented and focused on the company's interests.
Isham (below), who was once an aide to former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, said Noh made the right decision as MISC is an international shipping company which focuses more on the international shipping business instead of developing local community.
"As a politician and chair of Selangor BN, Noh has the responsibility of giving his focus to serve the locals especially the people of Selangor, and be the check-and-balance force to the state government. Thus, MISC was not the proper place for him," he said.
On June 1, the former urban wellbeing, housing and local government minister was appointed as MISC chairperson, replacing Ab Halim Mohyiddin who remained as the company's independent director. - Mkini
