Hasni says he might be shortest-serving Johor MB

Malaysiakini

Johor Menteri Besar Hasni Mohammad has not ruled out the possibility of having the shortest tenure in office as the state and country continue to struggle with political instability.
Hasni (above) jested that he may even be known as a Covid-19 MB.
"I came in the middle of the term, and there's still two and a half years before the next general election, that is if elections are not held earlier.
"If (snap polls) happen, then I may be the shortest-serving menteri besar. Maybe I'll even be known as a Covid-19 MB, because I'm always busy dealing with the pandemic," he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.
Hasni is Johor's third menteri besar since the 2018 general election. He came to power in late February after Bersatu defected from Pakatan Harapan to form Perikatan Nasional with Umno, BN, and PAS.
His predecessor, Bersatu's Sahruddin Jamal served for 10 months from April 2019 to February this year. Sahruddin had replaced Osman Sapian who served 11 months from May 2018.
Johor PN has a slim lead of 29 seats against 27 seats from Harapan. A single defection would result in a hung assembly.
Harapan had been teasing that they would be able to seize power in the state.
This prompted a royal rebuke from Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, who said he would dissolve the state assembly if there was another power struggle in the state.  - Mkini
