KUALA TERENGGANU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Mohd Redzuan Yusof has proposed that the government set up a medical centre for the Civil Defence Force (APM) given the huge number of its volunteers.
“The number of APM volunteers now has exceeded 2.2 million people, with tens of thousands still active. So it is apt to have a medical centre for APM, like the one for the armed forces, in appreciation of their services and contributions to the society,” he told a media conference here last night.
This was after he presented the instrument of appointment to 34 APM officers, comprising academics and professionals.
Redzuan said APM was also in the process of improving its logistics in preparation for disasters as well as emergency cases.
He said this included the procurement of 30 four-wheel-drive vehicles worth RM4.1 million, which will be distributed to several states often affected by floods such as Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah and Kedah this year. - FMT
