CORONAVIRUS | The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has ordered the closure of 12 mosques in the Sanglang state constituency and neighbouring areas, effective today, due to the recurrence of the Covid-19 infection.
Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is also MAIPs president, said the mosques would be closed until a date to be announced later.
“To that effect, today’s Friday prayer for the affected constituents will be replaced with Zohor prayer at their respective homes,” he said in a statement.
The affected mosques are seven in the Sanglang state constituency, namely Masjid Al-Rahman, Kg Simpang Sanglang; Masjid Al-Maghfirah, Sungai Korok; Masjid Darul Salam, Kg Padang Keria; Masjid Al-Makmur, Kg Bongor Kudung; Masjid Al-Furqan, Kg Bunga Emas; Masjid Asy-Syakur, Kg Permatang Bongor and Masjid Dato’ Jaafar Hassan, Kg Sungai Padan.
Three mosques are in the Simpang Empat state constituency - Masjid Putra, Simpang Empat; Masjid Al-‘Ilmi, Sungai Berembang and Masjid Ameer Fawwaz, Kampung Sungai, while the other two mosques are in the Guar Sanji state constituency - Masjid Nurul Yaqin, Kg Chantik Bangun and Masjid Nurul Muttaqin, Kg Che Ok.
