Ex-CJ Malanjum to be Warisan candidate?

Malaysiakini
SABAH POLLS | Remarks by Warisan president Shafie Apdal today has fuelled speculation that his party will field former chief justice Richard Malanjum during the upcoming state election.
"More time is needed... when the time comes. There aren't any announcements yet and forms aren't filled up," said Shafie to reporters in Kimanis, Sabah today, according to The Star.
Shafie was asked if it was true that Warisan was fielding Malanjum, 67, as widely rumoured in the state of late.
The speculation online was that Malanjum will be fielded in Bingkor, a Kadazan-majority constituency that Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) won in 2013 and 2018.
On Friday last week, Daily Express reported that Malanjum had dismissed a list naming him as the Bingkor candidate as untrue, but said he was “waiting for inspiration” when asked if he would support any party in the election.
He also reportedly did not confirm nor deny when pressed if he was going to be involved in politics this time.
During the 2018 elections, Bingkor saw a six-way contest in which Star's Robert Tawik @ Nordin won after bagging 33.2 percent of the votes, with candidates from BN and PKR trailing closely behind.
Malanjum made history as the first East Malaysian to be appointed chief justice and the youngest person to be appointed to the Federal Court.
He was later appointed as the chief judge of Sabah and Sarawak on July 26, 2006.
On July 11, 2018, Malanjum became the first East Malaysian to be appointed as the ninth chief justice of Malaysia and later retired on April 12, 2019.
