SLIM RIVER: Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria is reported to be in a stable condition after suffering from a stroke early yesterday.
State Islamic Religious and Information committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin said the stroke affected the right side of his body and his ability to speak.
"Praise be to Allah...our mufti has regained consciousness. The stroke is affecting the right side (of his body).
"He is not able to speak and needs some rest. Our mufti is currently being treated at the private hospital in Ipoh," he told reporters after attending Muafakat Nasional talks at Dewan Tan Sri Haji Ghazali Jawi here.
Mohd Akmal said Harussani had the stroke after waking up to perform the Subuh prayer.
"He felt uncomfortable and was immediately rushed to the hospital," he said.
"Let's pray for his health as we still need him." he added. - NST
