Police believe that the two skulls and human bone fragments found wrapped in a plastic bag at a dumpsite in Jalan Kolam Ikan, Bayan Lepas, Penang yesterday were used for learning or research purposes.
Southwest District Police chief Supt AA Anbalagan said police received a call from members of the public about the discovery at about 7.34 pm yesterday.
“The forensic unit team from the Penang contingent police headquarters rushed to the scene and initial investigations found two human skulls and fragments of human bones inside the plastic bag,” he said in a statement here today.
He said that based on the markings on the bones, there was a high possibility that these were meant for learning purposes or university usage for education, adding that police were still investigating how or why they were dumped there.
Anbalagan said all the human skeletal remains had been handed over to the Penang Hospital Forensics Department for analysis and investigation.
He urged those with information on the findings to contact the nearest police station. - Bernama
