'I'm sick of this' - IGP on second high-profile sodomy case under his watch

Malaysiakini
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador expressed frustration over the latest sodomy allegations against a prominent opposition politician.
This is the second such high-profile case under his watch, with the first implicating Senior Minister Azmin Ali.
"This matter is a waste of police resources, and I am sick of such matters.
“However, a police report has been lodged, thus an investigation paper has been opened,” he was quoted as saying by The Star.
The latest allegations surfaced in a statutory declaration (SD) dated June 29 this year, which contained explicit details of a man's sexual encounter with the politician at different hotels in 2013.
The man also claimed that he had introduced a friend to the politician upon the latter's request and the pair also had sex.
Earlier today, Malaysiakini reported that it is believed the man also filed a police report alleging manipulation but this could not be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Hamid said the federal Criminal Investigation Department has recorded a statement from a commissioner of oath on the matter.
"We are also in the midst of recording the statement of the one who made the SD," he added.
Malaysiakini had also contacted the commissioner of oath, who confirmed that the document was filed and signed before her.
Whereas the individual who made the SD told Malaysiakini that he had filed a police report but declined to elaborate.
“I'm super depressed. This case is under police investigation. Let the police do their job," he said.
The SD was first published on the Malaysia Today blog over the weekend.
In January this year, Hamid had said that the case concerning the video implicating Azmin, who was then PKR deputy president, was still open.
This was despite the Attorney-General's Chambers deciding against pursuing the matter on grounds that the resolution of the video was too low for the identity of those involved to be ascertained.
At the time, the emergence of the video was linked to the power struggle within PKR between its president Anwar Ibrahim and his then estranged number two, Azmin.
Apart from sodomy allegations, the police were also forced to deal with an allegation of sexual assault against Anwar.
On Jan 14 this year, the Attorney-General’s Chambers announced that no charges would be leveled against Anwar due to a lack of evidence. - Mkini
