The opposition is ready to fully support a government bill to facilitate a RM45 billion fiscal injection for Covid-19 economic aid, only if the amount is doubled to RM90 billion.
Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng (Harapan-Bagan) said this is because the current RM45 billion allocated was insufficient to help the public and businesses that are struggling.
"If the allocation can be increased an extra RM45 billion, we can set aside political interests. The opposition is ready to support this bill 100 percent, on condition that there is an extra RM45 billion.
"Let us create history if we want to save our country's economy... (The current) RM45 billion is not enough," Lim (above) said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He said this while debating the Covid-19 financing bill.
A response from the Finance Ministry in Parliament is scheduled for next Monday as there are many MPs who still want to debate the bill.
