PM to nominate DAP lawmaker to head PAC

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is slated to nominate Wong Kah Woh (Harapan-Ipoh Timur) as the new Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairperson.

The motion, which is number six in the Dewan Rakyat order paper, will also see the nomination of Azizah Mohd Dun (Bersatu-Beaufort) as the PAC deputy chair.

Wong (above) will be replacing Noraini Ahmad (Umno-Parit Sulong) who is now part of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration.

The DAP lawmaker was previously the PAC deputy chair and griped that the PAC had been crippled since the change of federal power after several members were appointed to various government positions.

If changes are not made today, the committee will be unable to function until the next Parliament sitting in November.

The PAC has not held any proceedings since March 9.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting today will not end until the motion to nominate Wong and Azizah to the PAC chair and deputy chair is debated. - Mkini
