Pull my ears if you can't find me, says Slim candidate

Malaysiakini

SLIM POLLS | Independent candidate Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi, who is representing the new Pejuang party formed by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has promised voters in the Slim by-election they can pull his ears if he ignored them after being elected.
Amir (above) said that it is important for every voter to have a representative who can always be found.
"If Slim voters choose me as the people's representative, the first thing I will do is make sure Slim voters can meet me.
"If there is one day the voters cannot meet me if I am elected as the people's representative, then (voters) can pull my ear. That is my promise," he joked.
He was speaking to more than 100 Indian voters in Kampung Bahru Hendra, Slim River last night.
Also present at the DAP-organised event were Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran and Sungkai assemblyperson A Sivanesan. Amir is backed not just by Mahathir but by the Pakatan Harapan coalition comprising DAP, PKR, and Amanah.
"I believe Slim DUN voters need an elected representative who can always be met. Right now it is difficult to meet them.
"I promise the Slim voters that I will always go down to the field," he added.
Perak Amanah communications director Azhar Rahman called on voters to give Amir Khusyairi their full support.
"This is in the spirit of solidarity in opposing the treacherous act of overthrowing the Pakatan Harapan government elected by the people through the last general election.
"We call for unwavering support to Amir Khusyairi by voting for him and to be united in opposing treason and rejecting those who cooperate with kleptocrats," said Azhar.
The Slim state assembly by-election was called following the death of its incumbent Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib on July 15. Voting is set for August 29.
Amir will face Umno-BN candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz and independent S Santharasekaran.
In GE14, BN won with a majority of 2,183 votes over Bersatu candidate contesting under the PKR ticket Mohd Amran Ibrahim, as well as PAS candidate Muhammad Zulfadli Zainal.  - Mkini
