The Sarawak state farmer's organisation (SFO) has been reorganised with the goal to raise the living standards of the farming community in the state.
Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said today that the reorganisation will be entrusted to Sarawak Assistant Minister for Agriculture Abdul Rahman Ismail.
Abdul Rahman has been put in charge of the SFO.
"We want to help each farming family to have a monthly income of RM4,000 from their efforts (and only) then, they can have a better standard of living," he said in a statement.
Uggah, who is also the state’s Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development Minister, said it was also the time for farmers, breeders, and fishermen in Sarawak to embrace science and modern technology.
“These would allow them to produce superior goods in order to compete with other producers in Asia,” he said, adding that they should also possess discipline, passion, and commitment in order to succeed.
