SLIM POLLS | The BN candidate for the Slim state seat by-election, Mohd Zaidi Aziz has denied issuing a statement claiming that the flood problem in Slim River had been identified by him, as viral on social media today.
He said the statement included in the poster was not issued by him.
“I have received a picture of the poster from my friend but what is written is not my statement.
“Even my picture on the poster is not clear,” he told reporters at a friendly gathering between the Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah with the media at the Slim by-election Media Centre today.
The poster included a statement: “I have just identified the flood problem in Slim River, and if I win, I will inform the state and federal government."
The Tanjung Malim Umno division deputy chief, however, said no police report had been lodged on the matter so far.
On the campaign which entered its fifth day today, Mohd Zaidi said he was focusing on the youth, including those outside the Slim constituency.
“The approach we take is to meet and organise various programmes for young people because they want a candidate who is close to them and can chat casually at a coffee shop for example,” he said, adding that among the programmes arranged are fishing activities, futsal, sepak takraw and badminton, besides social media is also used to connect with the group.
Mohd Zaidi is scheduled to visit several houses around Seri Besout and attend a voter-friendly event with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the Besout 2 District Voting Centre today.
The Slim state by-election this Aug 29 will witness a three-cornered fight between the BN candidate and two Independent candidates, namely Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi and S Santharasekaran.
