COVID-19 | Three soldiers from an army camp in Sibu have been detained for violating home quarantine orders issued to them as part of the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb Covid-19.
Sibu OCPD, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the men, who are in their 20s and hail from Kelantan, Melaka and Johor, were found to have breached the quarantine order at Jalan Channel, Sibu, at 3.00pm yesterday.
“Members of the public spotted them wearing a white wristband at Jalan Channel. Their presence in the public area was later reported to the Central Police Station which later despatched a team of personnel to the area,” he said in a statement.
Further investigation revealed that the soldiers were ordered to undergo quarantine at their barracks but instead, violated it by going out to town.
He said the soldiers had been released on police bail, and the case is being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code dan Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
