Zahid Hamidi: Sabah BN to use own logo in polls

Malaysiakini

SABAH POLLS | Sabah Barisan Nasional will use the BN's scale logo in the forthcoming state election.
Umno president Ahmad Zahidi Hamidi confirmed this decision with the media in Slim yesterday.
"In the Sabah state election, BN component parties, including Umno and PBRS, will use the BN logo.
"It was also agreed that other parties which cooperate with Bersatu can continue to use the Perikatan Nasional logo, as long as we have a two-cornered fight," Zahid said.
The Bagan Datuk MP stressed that it's important to avoid three-cornered fights.
"Our principle is that we must avoid three-cornered fights, and try our best to have two-cornered fights, which means a straight fight," he said.
Polling for the Sabah state election will be on Sept 26, with Sept 12 fixed for nomination day.
Currently, Sabah BN comprises Umno, MCA, MIC and PBRS, as Upko and Gerakan have left the coalition.
PBS also left BN after the 2018 general election, but the party is an ally of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government, with its president Maximus Ongkili serving as a minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs). It is not known if PBS will be involved in seat negotiations with PN.
On July 30, incumbent Chief Minister Shafie Apdal called for snap polls in the state after Governor Juhar Mahiruddin dissolved the Sabah Legislative Assembly upon his advice.
This came after Sungai Sibuga assemblyperson Musa Aman claimed that he had gained the support of enough assemblypersons to form a new government.
Musa challenged the dissolution of the State Assembly in court, but the High Court of Sabah, sitting in Kota Kinabalu, dismissed his bid.
Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal had said that the Perikatan Nasional flag which will be used during the state election is dark blue with Perikatan Nasional wording. - Mkini
