KOTA KINABALU: Warisan’s Sulabayan assemblyman Jaujan Sambakong and Bugaya rep Manis Muka Mohd Darah were unable to take their oaths at the state assembly yesterday as they are under self-quarantine.
In a statement issued by the party today, it said Jaujan, who is a Warisan vice-president, and Manis had voluntarily placed themselves in isolation in Semporna, which has been declared a Covid-19 red zone.
As a result, the party said only 21 Warisan assemblymen were sworn in in front of state speaker Kadzim Yahya.
It added that these 21 assemblymen had all undergone the RTK antigen test, as instructed by the Sabah Health Department in a letter dated Oct 6.
The test was a prerequisite for all assemblymen attending the swearing-in ceremony, the party said.
Yesterday, Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, who had also gone into self-quarantine after being a close contact of a Covid-19 victim, was found positive for the virus after another test during his quarantine. - FMT
