KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM164,680,133 has been allocated for the Health Ministry's spending in Sabah for Sept and Oct in its fight against the Covid-19 outbreak, its minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said.

In a statement tonight, Dr Adham said of the amount, RM103,845,131 was spent on personal protective equipment (PPE), consumable items, reagents as well as mobile assets, including food and medicine outsourcing.

"The balance, RM60,835,002, is from the development allocation and is used by the Sabah Health Department to improve health facilities such as laboratories and intensive care unit (ICU) rooms in hospitals as well as the procurement of vehicles and medical equipment.

"The government and everyone at the Health Ministry will continue our efforts and give our utmost dedication in performing our duties to break the chain of the Covid-19 infection until Sabah becomes a green zone again," he said.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had inspected the critical medical supplies to be sent to Sabah and Sarawak at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) air base in Subang, Selangor.

Muhyiddin attended a short briefing by Air Force chief Gen Tan Sri Ackbal Abdul Samad on the deployment of RMAF aircraft before checking out the process of loading the supplies into an A400M aircraft.

The A400M aircraft was used to send 13 tonnes of goods and equipment from the Health Ministry, Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Defence Ministry, Yayasan Amal Malaysia and Sunway Healthcare. - NST
