BAYAN LEPAS: Fourteen workers at a Bayan Lepas factory here were rushed to the clinic after experiencing breathing difficulties and acid slash wounds when a container of hydrochloric acid fell and broke.
The 14 — one man and 13 women — were reported to be in a stable condition.
The Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the incident about 1.08pm.
Operation officer Muhamad Amin Mat Masli said when they arrived at the scene, they found the container of one litre hydrochloric acid on the floor in a laboratory.
"There were 14 victims, with 13 of them having smell the acid and another had the acid slashed on.
"They were rushed to the nearby clinic by the company and all reported to be safe and in stable condition ," he added.
A hazardous materials (Hazmat) team was summoned to the scene. - NST
