PETALING JAYA: Baskin-Robbins Malaysia today said that one of its employees at the 1 Utama outlet had tested positive for Covid-19.
The famous American ice cream chain said the employee is currently seeking treatment in a government hospital and the employee last worked at the outlet on Oct 22.
“Upon reporting symptoms, he was immediately discharged from work and has been in quarantine since.
“The outlet was also immediately closed down for disinfection and all exposed food and packaging were discarded,” the company said in a statement.
Baskin-Robbins Malaysia added the employee’s close contacts have been placed under self-quarantine and are currently being tested.
“A separate new team will be deployed to the outlet only after they are tested negative.
“The health ministry may contact the customers who visited our 1 Utama outlet between Oct 18 and Oct 22, if they think it is necessary,” the company said.
Previously, 1 Utama was instructed to close for disinfection and sanitisation purposes on Oct 11 after several cases were reported. The shopping mall was reopened on Oct 17.
The Petaling District Disaster Management Committee had said on Oct 14 that there were 63 Covid-19 cases from the mall cluster. More than 6,000 workers and shoppers at the mall underwent tests. - FMT
