PETALING JAYA: Police have denied that all roads leading into and out of Petaling Jaya have been closed, saying that a viral message claiming such a thing was fake.
The message had claimed that roads leading out of Petaling Jaya through Damansara, Ara Damansara, Subang, Sungai Buloh, Kota Damansara and NPE had been closed.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said police had mounted roadblocks at three main locations in the district since the start of the conditional movement control order (MCO) on Oct 14.
He said the locations were the Subang toll plaza, Sungai Buloh toll plaza and Damansara toll plaza.
“The screencap shared on social media neglected to reflect the captions which mentioned that all were roadblocks and not road closures, ” he said in a statement yesterday.
“We are thankful to road users who patiently go through the roadblocks as they need to slow down when approaching the roadblocks.”
ACP Nik Ezanee added that they had also deployed personnel to monitor compliance with the conditional MCO.
“Stern action will be taken against those who do not adhere to the standard operating procedure, ” he said. - Star
