PKR president Anwar Ibrahim today revealed that the police are probing him for sodomy yet again, at a time when he was trying to form a new government.
Speaking to reporters after spending two hours at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Anwar said the sodomy probe was political and "normal".
"There were (questions on the sodomy probe) but this is normal and the questions were longgar (not specific).
"(To me) this is a political ploy to put pressure on me," said Anwar.
Initially, the press believed that Anwar was at Bukit Aman today to have his statements recorded over a purported list of MPs who supported his bid to be the next prime minister.
Several police reports were lodged over that list. Several MPs named in the purported list have also denied involvement.
Last month, police recorded a statement from a lawyer known as Ramesh Rao over a purported statutory declaration (SD) accusing an opposition figure of sodomy.
According to Bernama, the author of the SD had claimed to have engaged in sexual intercourse with the politician four times in 2013.
When contacted by Malaysiakini, the author of the document claimed that he was "influenced" into producing the document.
The author had also lodged a police report against Ramesh and Malaysia Today writer Raja Petra Kamaruddin, who wrote extensively about the document. - Mkini
