COVID-19 | Amidst the rising concerns due to the Covid-19 wave, Umno Youth has outlined three suggestions for the government to consider.
Its chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said these suggestions are closely linked to the problems faced by the people and appealed for them to be discussed in the cabinet meeting today.
"First, to extend the moratorium for at least another three months.
"Next, to give a one-off RM500 financial aid to university students who were affected (by the sudden delay of the new semester registration).
"Lastly, to postpone the schooling session," he said on his Facebook posting today.
For the record, the moratorium to ease the people's burden following the Covid-19 outbreak was implemented in April but ended in September.
At the same time, Prime Minister Muhyiddin had announced special assistance and the extension of the moratorium only to the targeted public who are still financially affected.
The others have to continue serving their loans beginning this month.
Last week, Higher Education Minister Noraini Ahmad apologised after a last-minute decision to postpone the physical registration for public university students had caused hardship for both parents and students.
The abrupt decision also caused confusion with some universities reportedly turning students away although the ministry had said that students who have arrived may remain on campus. - Mkini
