COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 847 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today with a spike in new cases in Negeri Sembilan and Labuan.
Both Negeri Sembilan (38 new cases) and Labuan (29 new cases) were in single-digit respectively yesterday.
Malaysia's Covid-19 death toll has reached 204 with five more deaths reported and active cases breaching the 8,000 mark for the first time.
Leading indicators in brief:
- Active cases = 8,183 ↑ (17th straight day a new record set)
- Patients in intensive care = 90 ↓ (12 less than previous day)
- Intubated patients = 29 ↓ (2 less than previous day)
- Deaths = 5
Of the latest casualties, four were from Sabah and one was from Kedah.
From the three sequential case numbers assigned to three victims from Sabah, they were diagnosed as Covid-19 positive very recently, suggesting that they died before or very soon after they were diagnosed.
Details are as follows:
- 'Patient 15,063', Malaysian female, 67, Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Kedah.
- 'Patient 11,865', Malaysian female, 65, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu. No history of prior illnesses.
- 'Patient 23,533', Malaysian male, 88, Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan. No history of prior illnesses.
- 'Patient 23,534', Malaysian male, 78, Tuaran Hospital.
- - 'Patient 23,535', foreign female, 60, Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan. No history of prior illnesses.
The total number of deaths attributed to Covid-19 for Sabah in this month alone stood at 63, or 30.9 percent of total Covid-19 death toll for the country.
Of the 847 new cases, 842 were local transmissions mostly reported in Sabah (578) followed by the Klang Valley (164).

Currently, there are 90 active Covid-19 clusters in the country of which six were newly categorised.
The new cluster with the highest number of new cases is the Sofi cluster, involving the Seremban district in Negeri Sembilan.
The index case had reported symptoms on Oct 20 and was warded at the Rembau Hospital. So far, 34 cases have been attributed to this cluster.
Malaysiakini understood that this cluster involved a school.
The Jambu cluster involved the Hulu Langat district in Selangor. The index case was identified during a pre-surgery screening. So far 15 cases have been attributed to this cluster.
The Umboo cluster involved the Alor Gajah district in Malacca. The index case for this cluster was screened at an immigration detention centre.
So far, four cases have been attributed to this cluster and 151 test results are pending.
The Tinusa cluster involved the Sandakan district, where the index case reported symptoms on Oct 6. So far, 33 cases are attributed to this cluster.
The Sauh cluster involved the Kota Kinabalu and Paper districts in Sabah as well as the Miri district in Sarawak. So far, 17 cases are attributed to this cluster.
The Bah Mutiara cluster involved the Hulu Langat district in Selangor and the Titiwangsa and Lembah Pantai districts in Kuala Lumpur.
The index case had recently travelled to Sabah. Ten cases attributed to this cluster.
