DAP wants Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to stop being distracted by politics and focus on improving the government's response to the third wave of Covid-19 infections.
The party's secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the focus should also be uniting Malaysians in supporting the frontliners.
"Instead of focusing on political survival by enticing over MPs with GLC positions, including the plum position of the Petronas chair, and even dangling the prospects of ministerial posts with a cabinet reshuffle, time and effort should be spent by the prime minister on correcting his government failures on the Covid-19 crisis.
"The prime minister should state there is no cabinet reshuffle, and stop the dishonourable and dishonest offering of political posts and positions," Lim said in a statement today.
The number of Covid-19 patients in the country has been skyrocketing, with the number of active cases hitting 7,456 as of noon yesterday.
At the same time, Putrajaya is also being rocked by political instability, with Umno making demands such as the deputy prime minister position, if it is to continue cooperating with Muhyiddin and Perikatan Nasional.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang also called on the PN government to stop politicking and focus on channelling all available resources to fight Covid-19 pandemic in Sabah.
"Despite Sabah becoming the epicentre of the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia - Selangor, the second state, has a cumulative total of 3,357 infections and 25 fatalities - the prime minister and the cabinet are totally engrossed in the Malaysian Game of Thrones and are not channelling all available resources to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in Sabah," the elder Lim said.
Selangor currently has 702 active cases, while Sabah has 5,571 as of yesterday. - Mkini
