MELAKA: Eight Melaka Hospital medical workers have been confirmed to be Covid-19 positive, and not 11 as viralled in social media earlier.

Melaka Health Department director Datuk Dr Ismail Ali, in a statement, said the eight were being treated at the hospital, while their close contacts have been tested and were undergoing home quarantine.

He said Melaka Hospital services were proceeding as usual under strict Standard Operating Procedures, and 30 Covid-19 patients were being treated there.

He added that Melaka Hospital was a referral centre for Covid-19 cases in the state, and as such appointments had to be made for treatment at all units at the hospital.

No wards are closed, he explained, including Ward 1-1.
