Enhanced MCO on resort workers' dorms in Petaling Jaya

COVID-19 | The government has decided to impose an enhanced movement control order (MCO) on the workers' dormitories at the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort in Petaling Jaya.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the 14-day lockdown will begin at midnight tomorrow and aims to restrict movement at the workers' dormitories after five workers tested positive.

He said the enhanced MCO would not affect the resort's clubhouse and residences.

Petaling district officer Johary Anuar earlier today confirmed that five of the resort's staff had tested positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Ismail said the 1 Utama Shopping Mall in Bandar Utama Damansara has been ordered to close for seven days beginning Oct 12.

This is despite the Selangor government already issuing the same order starting tomorrow after the discovery of four Covid-19 cases at its premises.

The first Covid-19 case at the shopping mall was reported on Oct 5 involving a staff of Mac City Service Centre and another on Oct 8 involving an employee of Parkson Elite. The two other cases were revealed by Johary earlier today.

The management of 1 Utama has since confirmed that all of Mac City Service Centre's staff had tested negative, as well as close contacts of Parkson Elite's staff. - Mkini
