PETALING JAYA: The former political secretary to a former federal minister will be charged with corruption tomorrow over a RM5 million bribe related to a project awarded by the ministry, FMT has learnt.
A source at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the man in his 40s will face several charges under Section 16 of the MACC Act at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow.
The former aide is also expected to face several additional charges in Shah Alam on Oct 23 for the same alleged offence.
“The individual is believed to have helped a contractor firm acquire the project and received kickbacks from a few individuals through several transactions,” said the source.
MACC investigations director Norazlan Mohd Razali confirmed the matter when contacted by FMT.
He also confirmed that three other senior officers in an agency under the same ministry will also be charged in court after being investigated by MACC over the same case. - FMT
