Field hospital in Tawau being activated - Health DG

 

The process of activating a field hospital is currently underway at the Tawau Sports Complex Hall.

The field hospital, which is located about 10 minutes from the Tawau Hospital, is being set up in collaboration with the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF).

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a Facebook post today said the field hospital would be used to treat non-Covid-19 patients from the Tawau Hospital.

“The field hospital is dedicated to providing Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Orthopaedic, and General Surgery services,” he said.

According to him, the activation of the field hospital would give more space to the Tawau Hospital to treat Covid-19 cases that require intensive care (category three to five) including those referred from nearby districts, especially Semporna.

“Cases with no or mild symptoms (category one and two) will be placed at the Covid-19 Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres,” he said.

Noor Hisham also expressed thanks to all parties, especially the MAF that contributed to setting up the field hospital.
