Maharani rep tests positive for Covid-19

 

COVID-19 | Maharani assemblyperson Nor Hayati Bachok is the latest politician to have been infected with Covid-19.

In a statement issued by her service centre today, it said Hayati's second test which she took on Oct 4 had come out positive.

She was notified of the result yesterday.

The statement noted that since coming back from Sabah on Sept 26, the Amanah assemblyperson's first test had been negative.

However, she continued to quarantine herself at home up until she had the result of the second test.

Meanwhile, Hayati and her team expressed disappointment after her and her family's personal information were leaked to the public.

"We had identified the individual who circulated the message and have filed a police report, followed by legal action.

"We urge the public to stop sharing their personal information," the statement read.

When contacted, Hayati confirmed that she has been infected with Covid-19.

She is the fifth assemblyperson who contracted the coronavirus.

Yesterday, two Selangor assemblypersons, namely Kota Damansara's Shatiri Mansor and Kampung Tunku's Lim Yi Wei, tested positive for Covid-19.

On Oct 1, Ayer Limau assemblyperson Amiruddin Yusof and Lunas assemblyperson Azman Nasrudin also tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from Sabah.

Prior to that, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri had announced that he has Covid-19.

This led the participants of a special National Security Council meeting, which he had attended, to go under home quarantine, including Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Meanwhile, de facto Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan, who was also in the meeting, announced on his Facebook that he would be under home quarantine until Oct 17.

"Following my attendance at the National Security Council meeting chaired by the prime minister last Saturday and under the status of close contact (with Zulkifli), I am now undergoing home quarantine until Oct 17.

"All meetings and programmes involving myself will be postponed," he said. - Mkini
